Nearly 21 months after groundbreaking, the new Crew Stadium finally open its gates.

The new $313.9 million stadium located west of the Arena District at Astor Park will officially open for the first game on July 3 when the Crew plays the New England Revolution at 5 p.m, The Dispatch has learned. The game will be broadcasted on ESPN.

There will be 13 league games at the new stadium in 2021 and four at the old Crew Stadium beginning April 18 against Philadelphia Union.

Major League Soccer is expected to release a partial or full schedule Wednesday.

By that time, it’s unknown how many fans will be allowed into the stadium due to COVID-19 capacity restrictions, but the Crew is hoping to have as many fans inside the 20,000-seat stadium as safely possible.
