Dunkin’ Donuts Park is a 6,121-seat baseball park in Hartford, Connecticut. It is the home field of the Hartford Yard Goats. A “yard goat” is not an animal mascot, it’s a phrase that describes a small locomotive that is used around railyards to move cars from track to track. Dunkin’ Donuts Park was named the 2017 Ballpark of the Year.

Take a look at the ever-changing mowing patterns!  Kyle Calhoon, Sports Turf Manager for the Hartford Yard Goats was named the winner of The Sports Turf Managers Association’s sixth annual Mowing Patterns Contest.

There are many factors to evaluate when building a baseball field.  All of them require expertise and lots of planning to ensure the quality of your field is constructed and maintained to last for years. Knowing the basic outline can help you plan, budget, and get the assistance and advice you need. Depending on where your baseball field will be located (geographically), you will have to consider certain environmental conditions and make important decisions about items like irrigation, drainage, turf, and soil types you would like to use. The amount of intended use will also factor into what type of turfgrass and soil should be used in your field. It will also alter maintenance needs. To build a quality baseball field and watch your sports field dreams come to life, we highly recommend you work with an experienced sports turf builder that can help you with the complexity of high-performance baseball fields.
