Since constructing the playing field at FirstEnergy Stadium in 1999, the Cleveland Browns have turned to SCG Fields for all their sports field construction needs. So when owners Dee & Jimmy Haslam began a five-field community initiative with the intent of increasing academic interest for Cleveland high school students through sports, SCG was named the “Official Field Builder” for the project.
The initial phase was a donation of five synthetic sports fields to high schools within the Cleveland Metropolitan School District. In 2016 renovations to the athletic facilities at JFK Roye Kidd Stadium, James F. Rhodes Stadium, and Robert “Bump” Taylor Stadium were completed. The final two athletic fields at John Adams High School and John Marshall High School were constructed before the 2017 football season.
Reaching beyond Cleveland City Schools and into the Greater Cleveland Area, Lorain High School’s George Daniel Field is next on the docket for a renovation courtesy of the Cleveland Browns. Construction begins mid-April with a completion date scheduled for the end of July, beginning of August. The field will be ready for play at the start of Lorain Titans 2018 football season and will be available for use by other local high school and community youth sports programs.
